A great reason to exercise and see the sights around, biking does a great deal on maintaining our environment’s cleanliness by keeping traffic and smoke belching at bay. Most people would prefer driving a car but it’s good to know that there are hundreds of biking communities that continuously promote the cycling lifestyle. With this, several biking spots have popped in the metro leaving bikers enthusiastic as ever. So whether you’re up for an intense work out or just looking for a pleasurable ride, it’s time you bring your bike outside and head on a cycling trip with your family and friends. Check out our list of the best bike spots that’s just an hour or two from Metro Manila. It’s convenient and definitely a breath of fresh air!

1. The Army Trail, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig

No, it’s not where you party or where the BGC bus passes by. The Army Trail is located inside the Fort Bonifacio Camp, just right from 5th Avenue near McKinley Road. An instant pop of nature amidst the hustle of the city, the trail features uphills and downhills around a calm lagoon. Measuring almost two kilometres long, The Army Trail requires a P50 entrance fee, a valid ID, and the usage of helmet.

2. Bonifacio High Street

There’s no designated bike trail in Bonifacio High Street but the smooth roads and pavements of the area is enough to enjoy a day of cycling. BHS is known to promote an active lifestyle and its vast open spaces are way too inviting for bikers and joggers alike. Though BHS does not provide bike parking, several rest areas are situated within.

3. Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City

If you’re living in the Quezon City and San Juan Area, then the Camp Aguinaldo bike trail is perfect for you. Composed of single tracks, jumps, and switchbacks, the route is 2.54 kilometres long and is appropriate for beginners who are starting to try out various rides and climbs. The bike trail is open every day (except when it’s red alert inside the camp) with an entrance fee of 50 bucks.

4. Nuvali Park, Sta. Rosa, Laguna

Nuvali Park offers a good view of Laguna’s Mount Makiling and Laguna de Bay while adding a variety of commercial establishments on the side. Owned by Ayala Land, the park features a 50km bike trail that’s open and free for the public. Several kinds of bicycles are also for rent if you’re simply up for a leisure ride. A waiver and ID are required to enjoy the bike trail.

5. UP Diliman Academic Oval

A 2.2-kilometre loop, the UP Diliman Academic Oval has always been famous for bikers and joggers who would like to spend a Sunday outside. Under the shades of acacia trees, the Academic Oval is a good way to see the campus and at the same time enjoy time with family and friends. The oval might get a little crowded in the morning but that can be a good excuse to feast on isaw and tapsilog available inside the UP grounds.
