The Big One: How prepared are you?

Coach Manny Batungbacal of University of the Philippines Mountaineers Safe and Rescue Team (UPM SAR) conduct an earthquake and tsunami awareness and preparedness seminar at the TeamManila Graphic Design Studio, May 5.

In the seminar, he discussed what are the things to when the disaster strikes. Also, he demonstrated the 72-hour emergency kit which contains food & water, bedding & clothing, fuel & light, personal supplies & medication, personal documents and equipment in case of such natural occurrence. Equipment were sponsored by Columbia, an outwear and sportswear brand.

Batungbacal, along with his team, has conducted several talks at UNTV, Assumption College and Primer to name a few. “If we will not give our fair share, then who will be? It feels really good helping a lot of people.” on why they conduct such seminars and engage in rescues.

“Disasters can happen anytime. All we have to do is plan and prepare. Don’t panic. Know what to do,” said Batungbacal on advice to people during a course of an earthquake or tsunami.
