What Went On: The TeamManila Urban Outdoor Launch

Adventures, good music, and a brand new line of apparel took spotlight at TeamManila’s Urban Outdoor launch held last August 18 to 20 at the newly opened TeamManila Pop-Up Store in Glorietta, Makati.

Displayed on a surrounding of indoor plants inspired by the country’s beautiful landscapes, TeamManila’s newest collection was accompanied by a photo exhibit from artists’ Anina Rubio, Ayen Dela Torre, Chester Vizconde, Elaine Abonal, Everywhere We Shoot, Grid Magazine, Javy Cang, Kimi Juan, and Reese Lansangan. The artists’ photographs of the country’s most picturesque views were printed on shirts exhibited during the three-day event.

On August 19, TeamManila invited Anina Rubio, Reese Lansangan, and Thysz Estrada to give a short talk on the Urban Outdoor Collection launch proper. Anina, who daylights as a calligrapher and lover of the sea, talked about packing light and her favorite beach destinations. Musician and visual designer Reese Lansangan drew the audience with her tales of hiking mountains and how her trips influence her craft. Thysz Estrada on the other hand focused on discussing her exhibit photo, which featured Fang-od, the last Mambabatok artist in the Philippines. The three artists’ openly welcomed questions and discussions during their time on stage.

In between talks, music by Toni B, Reese Lansangan, and Kai Honasan serenaded the crowd and press. The three well-traveled musicians fit perfectly to TeamManila’s mood for the evening; from Toni B’s toe-tapping piano pieces, Reese Lansangan’s acoustic-slash-electronic set, and Kai Honasan’s ukulele jams, everyone was definitely served a musical treat.
