A Year in Music

2013 was undeniably a great year for Filipino music; local releases from bands old and new, regular bar gigs, and even international concerts (that opened more opportunities for local artists) took place around the buzzing metro. Original Filipino music was everywhere and it was dearly appreciated by listeners here and even outside the country. Formats and styles may have changed but the appreciation remains the same.

With this, TeamManila also showed support for our musician’s creative efforts through collaborations in retail and design. It was a great year for us, too! And while the year is still fresh, TeamManila would like to do a short recap on the previous projects we’ve shared in the field of local music. Come and look back with us.

Gaijin’s Sunday Kodama Album Cover

Gaijin’s second release called “Sunday Kodama” is definitely straight-up rock and roll from Raymund Marasigan, Jesse Grinter, and Shinji Tajaka. A take on raw music and good visuals as the album cover and packaging were done by TeamManila’s Design Studio. Know more about Gaijin: Facebook

Flying Ipis’ Give Ipis A Chance Album Cover

All-girl band Flying Ipis released their debut album Give Ipis A Chance last August and TeamManila’s Design Studio was honored enough to design the band’s cover and packaging. Read about it here.

Eraserheads North America, Dubai, and Singapore Tour Apparel

Just like you, we are also huge fans of the Eraserheads and collaborating with this band is of great pleasure. In their recent tours abroad, TeamManila and Daily Grind released limited Eraserheads apparel for their fans old and new. The band was also brought closer to their listeners by a meet-and-greet with Buddy and Raimund held at TeamManila SM North Edsa.

Sandwich x TeamManila x District Tree Longboards

Another art and music effort was done with Sandwich, TeamManila, and District Tree Longboards’ design project. Inspired by Sandwich’s latest album Fat Salt and Flame, patterns and a salt shaker were the main components of this longboard design. Look more here.

Rock Supremo

A look into the life of Bonifacio was creatively done by Rock Supremo through a multi-media stage production made possible by the NCCA, Ballet Philippines, RockEd, TeamManila, and Bonifacio Global City. A compilation record of the same title was also released which was hailed by Pinoytuner as one of 2013’s great records. Check the list here.

Sandwich New Romancer Music Video

Before the year changed, Filipino rock band Sandwich released their visually appetizing music video for single “New Romancer.” A terrific single matched by an excellent video welcomed the new year for all Sandwich fans. Also don’t miss spotting TeamManila apparel worn by the band. Watch it: Sandwich – New Romancer

And to cap this off, we would like to share to you these lists from music blog Vandals on the Wall as to introduce (or re-introduce) local artists who have released awesome tracks in 2013. Cheers to another great year for Filipino music!
