1. The CCC

The Kataastaasan Kagalanggalang na Katipunan should have been spelled Cataastaasan Cagalanggalang na Catipunan or CCC instead. The letter K was not part of the Tagalog alphabet system during Rizal and Bonifacio’s era and was only adopted by Filipino nationalists (Jose Rizal included) during the formation of the KKK. This was passed to represent independence and liberty during the Spanish period.

2. The KKK employed members through The Triangle Method

To keep the Katipunan from being discovered, the Katipuneros recruited members with an enlistment system called The Triangle Method in which a recruiter would ask two members whose name he only knows to join. If these recruits pass, the sandugo or blood compact follows and the choosing of an alias/symbolic name.

3. The KKK had three Supremos

Bonifacio wasn’t the only Supremo of the Katipunan. He was also joined by Ramon Basa and Deodato Arellano who like him was a KKK co-founder. Basa and Arellano were both deposed by Bonifacio due to ineffectiveness which made Bonifacio the last Supremo.

4. The KKK had a national anthem

Julian Felipe’s Lupang Hinirang isn’t the first national anthem of the country but Marangal na Dalit ng Katagalugan by Julio Nakpil is. Composed in 1896, Nakpil was asked by Bonifacio to create this hymn in ally with the Katipunan. The piece was later renamed to Salve Patria as tribute to Jose Rizal.

5. The Katipuneros were all heart

It wasn’t all about the revolution. The Katipuneros were always there for each other and were taught to take care of their members during sickness and need. If a member died, the Katipuneros chipped in money to help pay the cost of a funeral.
